Chronicles of Raynor is an engrossing action war game with difficult challenges, entertaining graphics and an intriguing story line all of which combine to make this one incredibly addictive game. This game is far from easy but those with experience playing this type of action war game should have little trouble picking up how the game is played. Beginners might find it a bit difficult but with a little time spent playing, even newcomers to the genre should be able to get the hang of it. Take a little time to read the intro the first time around. It gives the game an interesting backstory that will make the game even more intriguing. You want to keep playing to get to the end to find out if there's a conclusion to the story. It's well worth the few moments it takes to read the story.

The graphics in Chronicles of Raynor are far better than you would expect to find in this genre of game. While there are action war games out there with the same graphics quality, few, if any, can top this one. The characters are well drawn and with new enemies attacking on a regular basis, you never get bored of fighting the same enemy. That's something that can't be said for many of this game's contemporaries. Something as simple as changing the design of the characters gives the game new depth. Add to that the fact that each new enemy has its own strengths and weaknesses and is armed with a new type of weapon. while in the beginning your are facing off against enemies with machetes, you'll soon find you're confronted by new enemies who are able to throw knives. Even that one small change makes the game much more difficult and, therefore, much more fun.

You are armed with your basic gun when you start out in Chronicles of Raynor, but as you progress you will collect new weapons. Your basic weapon comes with unlimited ammo and offers a fair bit of damage to your enemies. If you keep your distance from them, the basic gun is more than enough to take out your machete wielding opponents. You're really able to use your basic gun to take out enemy you encounter, but for tougher enemies or enemies that are able to fire upon you from a distance, choosing a more advanced weapon is a better idea. While your more advanced weapons have limited ammo, you'll find more ammo for those guns as you progress and if you run out, you always have your basic gun to fall back on.

Aside from new guns, ammo and enemies in Chronicles of Raynor, you'll also be confronted with capsules and mines as you progress through the game. You'll want to collect capsules (pills with different colored ends) and avoid mines (small gray squares). Capsules help restore your health while mines have the opposite effect. Step on a mine and you lose a life. You only have three lives before your game is over, so you want to avoid losing them as often as possible. When you've used up all three lives, you'll have to start over from the beginning. That can be a pain depending on how far you've made it in the game. There are no save points and you're not able to continue from the level you were at when you died. If you're still on the first level, it's not really a huge deal, but once you reach the higher levels, you're not going to want to have to start over from the beginning, so keep your eyes peeled for mines and capsules.

The best way to get through Chronicles of Raynor is simply to keep your eyes open and pay attention to what's going on. While in the first part of the first level, enemies will only come at you from the front, that changes about halfway through the level. Enemies can be in front of you, behind you and even above you. If you see that you're taking damage but you don't see an enemy, find where that enemy is as quickly as possible. You can do this just by following the direction of the fire. If knives are bullets seem to be coming from above you, the enemy is above you. Take that enemy out as quickly as you can to prevent yourself from taking further damage. Watch for mines and jump over any you encounter. They can be hard to see, so make sure you look carefully. If there are enemies attacking you and there's a mine in front of you, take the enemies out first. The mine can't shoot at you, therefore getting passed it should be a lower priority. In addition, make sure you remember where mines are. If you're attacked by enemies and need to back up, make sure you don't back up onto a mine you've just jumped over.

Overall, Chronicles of Raynor is one of the most addictive and engrossing action war games online. It's fast paced, intense and following an interesting story line that adds a little depth and intrigue to the game. You learn right away that there is a conspiracy - someone is smuggling weapons to enemy troops. It's your job to find out who that smuggler is. It will take a little time and patience, but with practice, you will be able to beat this game and find out who is helping the enemy. The answer might surprise you.
