Palisade Guardian 2 Walkthrough
Palisade Guardian 2 is the sequel to wildly popular World War II war game Palisade Guardian. It takes the solid foundation laid by the first game in the series and builds on it adding upgrades, more weapons and even more action. This one is far more difficult than the first, but it's also even more fun. As with the first game, your goal is to protect your building. If your building is taken over by enemy units you lose the game. Protect it at all costs. Along the way you'll earn money to buy or upgrade your weapons and to purchase repairs for your building. This isn't a war game that allows you to take your time and plan your strategy. It is a fast paced, action packed war game extravaganza that will absolutely thrill any fan of the war games genre. With thirty-five intense levels, six different weapons and several different enemies to engage in combat with, this is a game that, despite its length is never boring.
There are several difference between Palisade Guardian 2 and the original game is follows. Although the basic premise and the controls are the same, that's really where the similarities end. First, this war game is based on modern warfare while the original was a World War II war game. This means instead of choosing from six World War II era weapons, you get to choose from six more modern weapons in this one. The graphics in this one are also different from the first game although the troops more or less look the same. The biggest difference between this game and the first, however, is the screen you're taken to between levels where you buy your weapons. Some will argue the weapons screen in the original game is laid out a bit more clearly in the first game, in truth, the weapons screen in this one isn't much more complicated. It's just different. Instead of having all of your options on one screen, there are three tabs to choose from; repair, buy weapons, and stats. Stats is a great screen but ultimately not very useful. You can click on the stats tab to view your stats from the previous level - how many units you took out, how accurate you were and how much you earned for money including a breakdown of different bonuses you earned.
The 'Repair' and 'Buy Weapons' tab are really the tabs on the weapons screen that you'll be using most in Palisade Guardian 2. The weapons tab is pretty self explanatory. You use it to buy new weapons to use in the game. The biggest change here is that you're now able to buy an ACOG scope for any weapon you purchase. The ACOG scope is sort of like the upgrades you would find in most of the other war games online. A scope allows you to improve your accuracy and increase your chances of being able to get a head shot which offers obvious benefits for the overall quality of your game. Although the scope isn't required, it isn't a bad idea if you're having trouble with your accuracy. The best way to buy weapons in this game is to focus on the strengths and weakness of each weapon. The great thing about this game over the first is that you're able to see the accuracy, damage and fire rate of each weapon displayed in bars as soon as you click on the gun instead of needing to read about the weapon in a text description of the weapon. This allows you to compare weapons much more quickly an easily than you were able to do with the first game. This is especially useful is you have enough money for more than one type of weapon and need to know which one offers the most for its price tag. Look at where the gun is weakest. Take the fire rate into account. If it delivers a lot of damage but doesn't fire all that quickly, you may be better of choosing something more rapid fire initially. You can always purchase the weapon that inflicts more damage later in the game and alternate between them in battle.
Performing repairs in Palisade Guardian 2 is also quite different from performing repairs in the first game but although it looks more complicated, it really isn't. In this game you're given a slider bar to choose the amount of repairs you want to perform. The truth is, it's actually a lot more convenient to use the slider bar. Directly above the repair slider bar, you'll see how much money you have to spend. Below the slider bar you'll see the amount of repairs you're choosing to do and how much those repairs will cost you. As you slide the slider bar, those two figures will change. You can use the slider to spend the exact amount of money you want to spend on repairs or perform the exact amount of repairing you want to do. This definitely comes in handy if you're low on money. It isn't always necessary to return your building to full health. In fact, until you've purchased all of the weapons and all of the scopes for those weapons, it's a better idea to only do as much repairing as you absolutely need to. Once you've purchase everything, you can focus on completely repairing your building after each battle.
When you start out in Palisade Guardian 2 you are armed with an MP5 which will be more than enough to get you through the first two or three levels in the game depending on your shooting skills. Try to stick with just that basic weapon through the first two levels and try to avoid doing any extensive repairs. This will allow you to save money for the more advanced weapons you'll need later in the game. Focus on defending your building so you don't have to worry about buying repairs. The repair option is great and it can help your game last longer, but try not to rely on it entirely. Don't waste money on repairs if your building didn't really suffer that much damage. The best way to keep your building from taking heavy damage during battle is to shoot quickly and accurately, make use of all of the different weapons you have and to focus on taking out any advanced enemy units before taking on the basic units. The more advanced units (tanks, jeeps and the like) are not only harder to kill but they also deliver a significant amount of damage. If you're a skilled shooter, however, you can take out the basic troops with headshots quickly and then focus on the advanced units, but if you're not that quick or accurate, that definitely isn't the way to go.
Palisade Guardian 2, like its predecessor awards accuracy with cash bonuses. The more accurate you are during a level, the higher you 'accuracy bonus' will be. You also get a $20 bonus for every head shot you get. As with the first game, these bonuses are fairly important. Try to be as accurate as possible. If your shooting skills aren't completely up to par, you don't have to worry so much about head shots. They're a great bonus to go for if you have the skills, but if you don't, you could easily find yourself missing shots and hurting your accuracy. That accuracy bonus is really what counts. If gives you a great cash boost and gets you closer to buying the more advanced weapons you need to use to get through the later levels and also get you closer to being able to afford the upgrades you need to do repairs to your building.
Overall, Palisade Guardian 2 took an excellent war game and made it even better. While they stayed true to the 'no frills' approach of the first game, adding the scope upgrade for all of the weapons made the game a bit easier and a bit more interesting. More experienced war game players are probably going to find this game a bit too easy for the first few levels, but the game gets much harder as the levels progresses. Newcomers to the war game genre, on the other hand, are probably going to have the opposite problem in that it will be difficult for them right from the start. Stick with it. You will improve as you play. Regardless of your skill or experience level, this is a game that any fan of war games needs to play at least once. You'll be glad you gave it a shot.
